About the role
This role would be ideal for a fresh engineering intern in electronics, analogue and digital communication.
The Radio Integration and Optimisation Group (RIOG) primary function is Bringup, Evaluation and optimization of new radio silicon. The group consists of multi-disciplined (RF, Analogue, Software, Digital) engineers who, working closely with specialist design and systems engineers, use this broad base of knowledge to provide optimal tuning and configuration solutions for radio operation.
The role is predominantly lab-based working at circuit, cell, subsystem and system level the RIOG team are responsible for bring up, debug, evaluation, optimization and enhancement of the radio performance of Qualcomm silicon radios. Focusing on all aspects of the silicon design that influence the performance, qualification and test of the connectivity radios, including elements of the embedded firmware for Radio Control and defining the Production Test strategy and test limits for the radio.
The individual blocks are verified in isolation before building into a complete radio system to include digits, firmware and analogue/RF.
The intern will be assigned to a project and take part in responsibly for the performance and operation of the radio, interfacing directly with analogue and digital designers, systems engineers and radio control fw engineers to provide a complete radio system solution for verification and validation in characterization over temperature and process skews.
The intern will take part for generating Python test scripts, writing embedded C code for fw radio control.
Responsibilities
- Understanding taking responsibly for own work.
- Solves complex problems in a tightly constrained environment.
- Python code generation to control instrument and data acquisition.
- Writing Embedded code to exercise chip functionality.
- Maintaining test scripts and developing for new features
- Ensures quality of the solution; works with lead engineers and project managers to ensure timely delivery of designs.
- Completing the report and documentation for the work they have been assigned
- Keeps abreast of new developments.
- Collaborates effectively with other staff throughout the company
- Attitude of delivering a task of high complexity on time
Skills and Experience we would love to see
Preferred
- Broad experience of hardware; Analogue and digital circuits, Wireless communications, wireless circuits for audio or IOT applications.
- Competent in Matlab, Python or other scripting languages. Familiarity with radio test equipment
- Demonstrable analytical problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of connectivity radio architectures at a cell, subsystem and system level
- Knowledge of PLL, mixer, ADC/DAC, LNA and PA circuit operation
- Interests in Bluetooth standards and methods of radio testing.
- A knowledge of or familiarity with Embedded C code.
- A knowledge of or familiarity with Verilog.
Desireable
- Knowledge of connectivity radio architectures at a cell, subsystem and system level
- Knowledge of PLL, mixer, ADC/DAC, LNA and PA circuit operation
- Interests in Bluetooth standards and methods of radio testing.
- A knowledge of or familiarity with Embedded C code.
- A knowledge of or familiarity with Verilog.
Education:
Students, who are in B.Sc. (Hons) Engineering, Physics, Computing, Mathematics Preferred: M.Sc. or Ph.D. Engineering, Physics, Computing, Mathematics
